This was something a friend of mine had posted on Facebook earlier last year. I ended up bookmarking the page (as I do with all things that intrigue me), and I happened to stumble across it again recently.
I know when I typically think of design, my mind tends to go to material (typically paper) things in the way of flyers, posters, and advertisements. Let me introduce you to something a little different, though: meet the company, Litographs.
According to their website, “Litographs creates art from the books you’ve read and loved. Our posters, t-shirts, and tote bags are all created entirely from the text of classic books. Our designs were created by a team of artists from all over the world. From a distance, the artwork illustrates a theme, character, or setting from each book. Move closer and the text becomes fully legible.”
Here are just a few t-shirt examples:
Those are the entire books printed on a t-shirt. I just find it fascinating, even more so when you consider the different pictures the text creates as it serves it’s dual purpose. They’re perfect for English majors or anyone who loves literature! You’ll be guaranteed to be the talk of your book club, literary class, or English department!
